About Our Farm

Eckhart Farms has operated on the Wild Rose Prairie since 1974. Dusty and Sally stewarded the land for thirty years until Chris and Samantha took over operations of the farm.

The farm has primarily been a wheat farm, but in recent years we have diversified the crops grown to benefit soil health and future sustainability.  In 2017, we started experimenting with adding animals to the mix in a rotational grazing manner with the goal of increasing soil diversity and organic matter.

We are passionate about family farming and what it represents. We do not operate under the same constraints as larger corporate farms. We believe that the survival of the family farm is vital to the farming industry as a way to educate and empower the public.

Our Team
Chris (not actually a dog)
Owner and Operator

Chris manages the day to day operations of the whole farm. He plans crop rotation, markets the grain, and runs all the equipment.
Samantha (not actually a dog)
Social Media Manager/wife/mom

Sam compliments Chris' efforts and balances the responsibilities of home life and all that comes with it with the demands of running a family farm.
Dusty (not actually a sheep)
Farm Hand and Mentor

After stewarding the farm for thirty years, Dusty continues to be an irreplaceable asset to the family farm in his "retirement". You'll often see him in a tractor, working on equipment, or checking the fields.
Sally (not actually a lamb)

Sally keeps the farm running. From record keeping, scheduling, and generally preventing entropy to hopping in a tractor or driving a combine... she does it all.
